Everyone has heard the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away".
This reputation for healing goes back at least as far as the Arabian Nights. 
One of the stories featured a magical apple that could cure all diseases.

 

Banana peels are rich in potassium and phosphorus and can give your roses and house plants a special boost.  Just air banana peels until crisp, crumble and store in sealed envelopes at room temperature, add to soil when planting.

Dull scissors can be sharpened  by layering several thicknesses of aluminum foil and cutting through them a few times with your dull scissors.  They will come out nice and sharp.

Ammonia and chlorine can form a deadly gas when combined? Never mix products containing ammonia with bleach or products containing chlorine. Read label directions and warnings carefully before mixing ANY cleaners

Guests at a modern wedding reception enjoy feasting on wedding cake, but there was a time when the cake wasn't eaten--it was thrown at the bride as a fertility symbol. People today prefer the neater practice of showering the bride and groom with rice or birdseed.

Dirty guns are dangerous!  Keep debris and foreign matter from getting into your gun barrel by slipping a balloon over the end of it.

Warm beer makes an inexpensive cleanser for oak or mahogany furniture. Just wipe it on with a soft cloth.

Flat beer is the best solution for flat hair. A quick beer rinse can strip away soap film quickly. Mix three tablespoons with a half cup of warm water, pour it on your hair, finish you shower, and rinse off.  You will LOVE the results!

You can make a temporary hinge temporarily by nailing a short piece of a leather belt to the door and door frame.

For a shine that puts to shame most commercial toilet cleansers, treat your bowl to a few minutes worth of soaking in undiluted chlorine bleach.

You can protect your fingers from an angry hammer by gripping the nail between the prongs of a bobby pin.

Cookies stay softer and fresher when stored with a slice of white bread on top.

A lump of butter dropped into the pot of boiling water will keep boiling pasta from boiling over, and will keep your pasta from sticking together.

A wide candle makes a perfect pin cushion for your sewing table. The pins and needles will glide through fabric more easily when you pull them out of the wax.

Carpet remnants protect your floor when moving furniture.

While at the beach or on a boat,  placing  your camera, keys, wallet, or other valuables in an empty coffee can (with lid) to keep them dry.

You can protect your good china in storage by putting a coffee filter between each dish to prevent scratches.

If you spray a little cooking spray on your lawnmower blades before cutting the grass, it will keep grass from sticking to the blades

A paste made from cornstarch and water makes an inexpensive and affective sunburn reliever.

Don't keep your bread in the refrigerator because the cold temperature breaks down the starches and makes it get stale quicker.  Don't store it on top of your refrigerator either, because the warmth will dry it out.

Warm olive oil can ease a painful earache. Put a few drops in the affected ear, plug with cotton, and apply a hot water bottle or warm compress.

You can use a blackboard eraser to make all kinds of glass surfaces shine. You can clear a fogged-up mirror or wipe a car windshield clean as a whistle.

 

If you think detergents and soap are the same thing, think again.
While they may perform similar tasks, they are chemically different. 
Soap is made from fats or oils and alkali, but detergents contain surfactants and builders.
Surfactants dissolve dirt, and builders soften water so the surfactants can do their job better. 
That's why detergents work better in hard water than soaps do.
