When the new Testament begins, (Book of Matthew)
it starts out with the generation of Jesus
Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
From Abraham to David are 14 generations, from
David until the carrying away into Babylon are
14 generations, and from the carrying away into
Babylon unto Christ are 14 generations.
It goes on to tell us of how the angel of the
Lord appeared in a dream to Jesus' earthly
father Joseph to "fear not" and to take the
virgin Mary as his wife, "for in her is of the
Hold Ghost". And that she shall bring for a son,
and to call him Jesus, for "he shall save His
people from their sins.
All this
was done as it was spoken of the Lord by the
prophet saying: Behold, a virgin shall be with
child, and shall bring forth a son, and they
shall call his name Emmanuel, which being
interpreted is "GOD WITH US".
If you
read on in the book of Matthew, it tells how
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the
River Jordan, and as Jesus came straight up out
of the water, the heavens were opened unto Him,
and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove, and lighting upon Him.
Then a voice from heaven saying: "THIS IS MY
BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED".
Then
Jesus was led of the spirit into the wilderness
where he was tempted by the devil. He fasted 40
days and 40 nights, and he was tired and hungry.
The tempter came to Him and said If you are the
Son of God, command these stones be made bread".
Jesus answered by saying: It is written, Man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of God".
The
devil then took Jesus up to an exceedingly high
mountain and showed Him the kingdoms of the
world, and the glory of them and said to Jesus
"I will give you all these things if you will
fall down and worship me.
Jesus
told him: Get thee hence, Satan; for it is
written THOU SHALT WORSHIP THE LORD THEY GOD
AND HIM ONLY SHALT THOU SERVE.
The
devil then left Jesus and the angels came and
ministered to Him.
The
chapter goes on and tells of Jesus teaching and
preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing
the sick. Great multitudes began to follow
Jesus.
I love Chapter 5 as it speaks of Jesus teaching
his disciples saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be
comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the
earth
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst
after righteousness: for they shall be filled
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain
mercy
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall
see God
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be
called the children of God
Blessed are they which are persecuted for
righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you and
persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil
against you falsely, for my sake...REJOICE, and
be exceedingly glad: for GREAT is your reward in
heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets
which were before you.
Jesus
said we are the light of the world: A city that
is set on a hill cannot be hid.
He told us to "Let our light so shine before
men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify our Father which is in Heaven.
Jesus
said "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and
earth pass, one lot or one tittle shall in no
wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these
least commandments, and shall teach men so, he
shall be called the least in the kingdom of
heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them,
the same shall be called great in the kingdom of
heaven. For I say unto you, That except your
righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of
the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case
enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus
tells us in Matthew, chapter 10 that He sends us
forth as sheep in the midst of wolves and "be ye
therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as
doves", but to beware of men, for they will
deliver you to to the councils, and they will
scourge you in their synagogues for His sake; He
says not to even worry about what to speak,
because in that same hour the Spirit of our
Heavenly Father speaketh for us.
Jesus
knows the very number of hairs on our heads.
Matthew 10:30
He says
if we confess Him before men, He will confess
also before His Father in Heaven. But that if we
deny Him before men, He will also deny us before
His father in Heaven.
In the
28th Chapter of Matthew Jesus said: "All
power is given unto me in heaven and in earth;
Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe
all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and
lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of
the world"

Above is
a very short description of who Jesus is.
As you read and study the bible, you will study
of how He was crucified and how he died, was
buried, and rose again. AND HE IS ALIVE. He died
for you and me.
I hope you have enjoyed this page, I hope to add
more to it, but for now, God Bless and Keep You,
